Each year, The Legion National Foundation, in partnership with the Royal Canadian Legion and schools across Canada promote youth remembrance and education with a Poster and Literary Contest.
Students from Grades 1 to 12 are invited to submit their creative works.
Poster Contest Participants submit their work in black & white or in colour using the theme of Remembrance and what it represents to them. Submissions are judged based on originality, expression, drawing, and illustration. There are four student levels based on grade, including:
- Senior: Grades 10, 11, 12
- Intermediate: Grades 7, 8, 9
- Junior: Grades 4, 5, 6
- Primary: Grades Kindergarten, 1, 2, 3
Literary Contest Participants can submit an essay, composition, or poem with a Remembrance theme in either English or French. The judging criteria for the submission include originality of thought, expression, presentation, grammar, spelling, and Canadian content. Students participate in one of three groups according to their grade:
- Senior: Grades 10, 11, 12
- Intermediate: Grades 7, 8, 9
- Junior: Grades 4, 5, 6
You can enter as many contests as you wish but can submit only one entry per category.
Submission deadline: November 1st, 2023.
Entries should be dropped off at our Branch (141 Hwy 20 E, Fonthill, ON L0S 1E0).
